Mary's Recovery Fund

Organized by The Halgren Family

Ways to contribute to Mary...
Hello!! I wanted to let everybody know that the overflowing of love and support is much needed, and we hope you never stop. Those who have donated their money...we have used every penny of it. What a generous donation in these hard times. Those who have donated their time and attention, she is flourishing on her relationships..thank you. Those that just plain love her and allow me to have a bad day, your grace is sufficient.

For those who want to know how to help, other than contributing money...here are some ideas for you.

1. Rachel's Custom Sewing--if you have some sewing projects that need to get done anyways, consider paying me to do those...all funds go to her account and you get custom made projects for you.

2. Babysitting--either so Jared and I can get out (investing in our sanity), babysitting James or Leah so that I can take Mary to doctor appointments, horseback riding, school events or just plain Mary time.

3. Time alone with Mary--offer to come with me out to social events. I always need help with the children. Take Mary up and down the escalator at the mall, buy here favorite ice cream, play games with her...invest in personal alone time with her...this is priceless.

4. I am sure you all have your own ideas of how you want to help!!

If you want to send money donations, instead of using paypal, you can send them to: Rachel Halgren, 12901 NE 50th Street, Vancouver, WA 98682. We always let you know exactly what the money paid for!

WE LOVE YOU ALL!!

TRICK OR TREAT!!!

SHE LOVES BEING A COWGIRL ON HER HORSIE...

ON THE OREGON COAST...NO MATTER HOW COLD SHE IS, SHE LOVES THE BEACH!

Where she is now....
Mary has been through a lot in her short 5 years of life....even though every day is a battle of the body and mind, she has come a long ways!! She is in her second year of school at Evergreen Early Childhood Center with a fabulous teacher and is just lovin it! Her social demeanor are leaps of where she was 2 years ago and she actually loves the camera now and the concept of playing with friends....something that at age 3 was impossible.

Here is where we think we are headed with this unique girl. She has been on TD_DMPS cream for about 3 months now. It is vital that she take her minerals every other day during chelation so they don't get stripped from her body...but since she is having a hard time taking those consistently, we might have to delay chelation. Her wonderful doctor, Dr. Leigh Ann Chapman DAN! ND, (www.chapmannd.com) just returned from a conference and after hearing some promising and insightful testing -would like to test Mary for viruses...which can cause interruption in her system and not allow her body to function correctly. So that is the next step to get yet more blood work done and test for viruses.

Months back we had taken Mary to see an Cranial-Sacral therapist, kinda like a chiropractor for the skull and head. Needless to say, her 2-3 appointments were for naught cause Mary was horrified of the doctor touching her...so that promising treatment had to cease. But today, we are taking her to see our Chiropractor who is giving her a free X-Ray and adjustment, to see if her spine is out of alignment and for him to evaluate her need for chiropractic work--which Jared and I both believe in strongly can heal the body is many ways. We are anxious to see what results her XRAY may show.

Mary is continuing to blossom. Everyday holds a new adventure, whether it be positive or negative. We still have hopes that she can recover from the damage her PDD has caused, even when we feel like giving up. Pray for us please, she needs your prayers and your love...she is very unique and special and I can't wait til the day that I can tell her that and she will understand...(okay, wow, I am crying now...)

Two books Rachel recommends that give insight into the kind of things we go through and what are on our hearts:

Mary's 1st Experience with Horses!
Healing Winds Inc. at Crosswinds Stables offers Therapeutic Horseback Riding for Adults and Children with Developmental Delays and Handicaps. Visit their website to learn more! http://www.healingwinds.org/

We took Mary there for the first time on Saturday, with a group my friend SueAnn manages, called Friends on The Spectrum (http://friendsonthespectrum.com/). She has been talking about horses for a few weeks now, so we have been wanting to take her to see some, to see how she would react and what she wanted to do with them. Based on experience, I thought she would like the thought of it but would be horrified to touch or sit on one. I was delightfully wrong! She loved the horses, and couldn't wait to ride and in fact we had to scrape her off one when her turn was over! They are very close to us in location and we are scouting out the prices to see if we can take her there 1-2 times a month to ride-for therapy from stress and anxiety...and to just see her smile about something! We will keep you posted. See pictures below...just adorable!
A New Family Picture
A New Hope...
We have found a new chelation therapy, called trans-dermal DMPS. It looks very successful and we are looking into it to see how available and expensive it is for a family in our location.

"Dr. Rashid Buttar (Rah-sheed, Boot-tar), has developed a groundbreaking transdermal chelator that has proven safe to use in treating pediatric patients."

Why Choose Alternative Biomedical Treatments?

In her book Children with Starving Brains, McCandless invites parents to visualize the choice of trying alternative treatments or the lack of conventional treatments, to standing on a pier while watching their child drown.
"You desperately look for help or a life preserver (a physician or treatments that might work). You find a rope tied to the pier (special diets, nutritional supplements, anti-fungal/anti-viral treatments, secretin, chelation for heavy metal toxicity--all of which you have learned are safe and help many of these children). However, authorities warn you not to use it because it has not been proven that the rope is strong enough (the treatment option has not received final approval by "authorities" who are waiting for reports of completed scientific studies appearing in peer-reviewed journals). Meanwhile your child is still drowning (exhibiting autistic/ASD symptoms).
